Over the past 10 years I have helped over 800 business owners catch the break in their business that it needed to thrive and grow to be successful. It seems like just yesterday I was still at my desk in Blue Field elementary teaching kindergarteners.
Reflection is key and this is a practice we love doing every single year towards the end of the year while things are still fresh in our brains.
Reflection is also a good habit to get into whether your year was absolutely terrible or one of the best years of your life. No matter how many ups and downs and – there is usually a glimmer or two of hope, laughter and I want you to hold on to that and remember: it gets better.
This guide is sectioned into 30 questions/prompts for 2023 and 10 questions/prompts to prepare for 2024. Some of the questions are introspective, some are fun and lighthearted. You can also add some questions or jot some things down that you want to track year to year. This is your guide to use for your personal + professional reflections.
Pro Tip: Do this guide prior to building any vision board or doing any goal planning for the new year
Remember: it’s always better to document and track your life so when you look back at things, you know not only the why but the how behind you becoming the incredible person you are in the present day.
The task: take 20-30 minutes to go through this exercise. Grab your favorite journal or notebook- you can even do this online if you’d like (GoogleDoc, the Notes app, etc.).
For those of us who have to scroll through our phones or have someone confirm details on something for one (or many) of the prompts listed, remember you can also break this graphic down into sections and come back to it later on in the day or week or even in the month.
I personally recommend completing the entire graphic within a few days so things stay fresh and it can be completed, but I wanted to put that out there because I noticed that when I went through the prompts this year it was more fun to do it in bursts vs sitting and doing the whole thing.
Pro tip: do this exercise every single year and track every quarter how things are going so at the end of the year you’re reviewing things that you’ve been documenting all the time (my memory has to work super hard and I have to really sit and think about some of the questions so doing this throughout the year helps me a lot but look through your Photos app and on social media and through some of your text messages and even emails. You’ve got data on 2023- and I guarantee there are a few things you’ve forgotten about so take a peak and see what you find!)
Once you download this graphic, go ahead and get to thinking. Share this with a friend and do it together if you’d like and compare notes and memories. I promise it’ll be a good time and there will be at least one good long laugh.
And if you don’t have someone you want to share this with- hit me up, I’ve done these prompts a ton of times and I love seeing what people have to say. Hit me up on the ‘gram or send me an audionote: @whitneydanielleco_
